"Benediction" premiere by Maryland Choral Society today!

Of particular interest to those in the Baltimore/DC/NoVA area: the Maryland Choral Society will be premiering my new choral anthem Benediction today at their holiday concert. On the podium will be my good friend and fellow Peabody alum, composer/conductor Douglas Buchanan.

Benediction (for SATB choir and piano) sets the last four lines of John Milton's "At A Solemn Music" from 1632: O may we soon again renew that Song And keep in tune with Heav'n, till God ere long To his celestial consort us unite, To live with him, and sing in endless morn of light.

The program also features works by conductor Doug, and Dale Trumbore, as well as the Gloria of Antonio Vivaldi, with chamber orchestra. The concert is at 4pm at Mount Cavalry Catholic Church - 6700 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD 20747. Doug and I will share a pre-concert conversation regarding the program and, in particular, our new works at 3:30pm. It's going to be a lovely afternoon concert - a terrific way to get in the holiday spirit. I hope to see you there!
